If dogs could scroll through Instagram or TikTok, imagine their reactions! Just imagine their astonished looks! The “dog influencers” who are now the new darlings of the internet, with their posh outfits and hot golden retriever-like poses, have obviously taken over the social media world. And don’t you ever think what dogs really would feel like if they got to see the little dogs playing up to the camera online? Take this trip with me through that funny situation, the tail wag of imagination, and a bit of canine curiosity.

Imagine a typical dog like Bruno lying beside his owner, who is scrolling through the Instagram page. The phone shows a stream of videos of playful Labradors, singing Huskies, and skateboard-riding Shih Tzus. Bruno turns his head sideways as if he were confused. “What’s going on with these dogs in that bright box? And for what reason are the humans showing so much interest in them?”
Dogs cannot comprehend the concept of fame, but they are very good at reading human emotions. When their owners are laughing or clapping while viewing videos of other pets, they feel the same emotion. Some dogs may get envious, while others will be glad; nonetheless, all of them will be asking the question: “Who are these dogs and why do they get so many treats for being silly?”
The idea of camera posing might be utterly weird for a dog. Just think about it, from their viewpoint, humans just stop all their activities, lug around a shiny black box, and produce funny sounds like, “Smile! Stay! One more!”
If dogs were able to speak, they would probably express:
“Why is that strange thing pointed at me again? Didn’t you already click fifty times this morning?”

Nevertheless, dogs are social creatures, and human care means affection to them. Thus, even if they do not get the concept of “social media,” they would definitely be fond of the praise given to them for being photogenic, camera or no camera.
Picture a dog struggling to understand Instagram filters. It is very likely that a dachshund would witness another dog with sparkly eyes, fairy wings, or cat ears over the internet and would bark very loudly as if amazed:
“Hold it, guys, since when do puppies have wings? And how is that one looking like it just came from the moon?”
Filters are fun for humans; however, dogs are living in the very real world of smells, sounds, and moments. For them, every hair and every sniff is a story. A dog would not be concerned if another dog were to be extremely photogenic, but it might even try to sniff the phone screen to catch the “perfect fur scent.”
What about popularity? The very idea would be totally confusing for them. To dogs, fame, followers, or likes have no meaning. The only thing their world can be reduced to is love and loyalty. Hence, while humans are busy honouring influencer fame, dogs would just ask: “Will they still be getting belly rubs after the pictures?”
That’s quite an intriguing idea. Dogs are not naturally judgmental animals, but if they were allowed to express their opinions, some of them might be hilarious and very honest at the same time.
For instance, a dog of the working breed, such as the German Shepherd, might say, “While they are taking selfies, I am here, boundaries.”

A stray dog may wonder, “Nice collar, but can it get you a good sniffing place?”
And a spoiled pug might simply say, “What? An influencer? Honey, I came into this world fabulous.”
Probably, the dog influencers would be a source of fascination for the other dogs. The same treats, toys, and walks to lovely parks would be a fantasy life! But they would also be confused as to why humans would rather take pictures than play fetch.
There’s a funny side to dog influencers, but they also reveal a very nice truth. The influencers who are no other than these charming pets are the ones who have taken over the online space with their joy, awareness, and love.

If dogs could see the online happiness they cause, they would probably wag their tails in pride, even if they don’t completely understand the concept of “trending.”
Imagine a world where dogs had their own social media. Here are what their posts would caption:
They would post pictures of muddy paws, ripped toys, and blurry selfies from a nose touch. Every post would go viral because it was so authentic and cute.
Dogs, in the end, don’t care about followers, likes, or hashtags. They care about your presence.
They care when you look them in the eyes, scratch behind their ears, and take them for a walk.
Meanwhile, we scroll through “#Dog Influencer” posts while our own wait patiently for us to pay attention. Maybe that’s their lesson for us to learn more in the moment, wag more, worry less, and appreciate the little things.
Because for them, every day with their human is already an Instagram post, no filter needed.
